National Adoption Week is held in the UK every October and this year it runs between 14th – 20th
The campaign will aim to find homes for the children waiting. The focus for 2019 will be on the ‘priority’ children who wait the longest for a loving home. Those in a sibling group, children from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, older children and those with complex health needs or those that are disabled.
Although Pudding is a 2-year-old, blonde hair, blue-eyed boy, he was classed as ‘hard to place’ due to his hearing loss and other ‘difficulties’ he would come with. The only difficulties he came with was not shitting lol.
There are more than twice as many children in England waiting for adoptive families than there are adopters, new figures show. The latest statistics reveal there are currently 4,140 children in England with a plan for adoption and 1,700 families approved to adopt. 57% are in sibling groups.
Adoption is so important, if you are even thinking about it we praise you and urge you to go to an adoption event.
ADOPTION IS LESS ABOUT GETTING A CHILD FOR YOUR FAMILY. ITS MORE ABOUT GIVING YOUR FAMILY FOR A CHILD WITH NONE.
If you are interested in starting your adoption journey, we recommend that you contact the adoption/social services department at your local council. They will either run their own adoption service or use a charity like Barnardo’s.
